To develop simulation models and socio-economic assessment methods for the planning of passenger transportation in urban areas. The Chair focuses in particular on the simulation of a network and the impact of passenger route choices relative to available services, and on the modeling of capacity constraints affecting passengers or vehicle.
The Chair covers two areas of research.
The first relates to the operation of public transit networks, by modeling congestion phenomena and accurately assessing investment projects intended to reduce congestion and improve passenger comfort. Innovative models are developed and published in international journals.
The second area relates to the techno-economic design of transport networks for a conurbation, with the aim of finding an optimum structure that exploits the hierarchy of modal techniques, and of integrating interactions between the transit system and the distribution of the urban fabric.
